Craft beer is popular everywhere and Virginia is no exception. Come see how local breweries are hopping up their game.

From pottery to photography, Virginia has some incredible artists. Come chat with a few local artisans and support their craft.

Fredericksburg, Virginia

Adventure Brewing Company brews full-flavored beers for a growing audience of craft beer lovers. They brew year round, seasonal and specialty beers and release new beers almost weekly. Owners Tim Bornholtz, John Viarella and Stan Johnson learned to brew beer in the 1990s but it wasn’t until 2010 that their hobby brought them together and they began to brew as a team. At about the same time they formed the Stafford Brewers Club, a local organization dedicated to the creation and sharing of home brewed craft beer.

Expedition IPA

An interesting update to plain old IPAs, Expedition IPA calls forth a blend of citrus and white wine hop flavors that temper a clean lightly malted grain background. Certain to satisfy the long time IPA lover, this beer avoids the hop punch associated with many IPAs.

Backpack Wheat

No adventure is complete without a backpack, right? We brewed this traditional German-style beer with summer adventures in mind. It is refreshing and smooth, like any good summer wheat, but has citrus overtones. It is brewed with German grains, German hops, and German yeast.

Fred Red

This Irish style ale will arouse your senses with its refreshing aroma and pure malt inspired body. Treat yourself to its unforgettable flavor, creamy head, and deep red color.

Fort Monroe, Virginia

At Oozlefinch, they believe beer should be complex yet uncomplicated, familiar yet surprising—with a nod to tradition while blazing new trails. Made for people who appreciate the nuances of grains and hops and for those who are simply looking for a great beverage. There you will find classic style beers reimagined with new ingredients and techniques, as well as experimental and hybrid style beers designed to challenge and please the palate.

Headshaker Helles Lager

Brewed in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot, or German Beer Purity Law, this pint was made with nothing but high quality German malts, German hops, German yeast, and Virginia water. Our brew team gave this beer 7 weeks to develop into a clean, balanced, golden German lager. The grainy-sweet barley, spicy floral hops, and bottomfermenting yeast marry to create a malty beer with restrained bitterness and a clean fermentation profile.

Ordinary Courage IPA

Built on a tried and true foundation of Simcoe, Centennial, and Cascade hops, this pint hits you with citrus and resiny hop flavors over deep golden crisp malt. A healthy addition of oats keeps the mouthfeel smooth while a big injection of Simcoe lupulin powder right before packaging turns the aroma up to 11.

Lady In Pink - Strawberry Hefeweizen

Everything you love about our Lady in White hefeweizen, plus strawberries. An enormous addition of strawberry adds a pleasant complementary fruitiness to the banana notes from our hefeweizen yeast. The classic combination of strawberry banana makes this beer feel like a light dessert — not too sweet, but fruity and refreshing. Tart wheat and generous carbonation keep this a quenching pint.

Charlottesville, Harrisonburg and Richmond, Virginia

At Three Notch’d Brewing Company it is our primary goal to align our products with the rich history of Virginia and lead our patrons down the famous Three Notch’d Road to great beer.

“Minute Man” New England IPA

This unfiltered and unclarified style of IPA has a super low bitterness, allowing the fresh fruity flavor and aroma. The Galaxy, Mosaic and Idaho 7 hops make this beer super “juicy” and fruity with a strong, citrus bouquet aroma.

“Passionfruit ” Gose

When it starts staying lighter later, nothing beats a refreshing brew enjoyed by a Spring sunset – so we put that feeling in a beer! This German sour ale became a Spring favorite with the addition of the sweet flavors of Passionfruit. Tartness from kettle-souring with Lactobacillus gives the beer the same dry, crisp quality of these warming evenings. Spring never tasted so good!

“Firefly Nights” Summertime Ale

This beer was created as a reflection of Dave Warwick’s (Brewmaster) summers of his childhood growing up chasing fireflies with a mason jar and indulging in the sweet nectar of the honeysuckle flowers. This light, crisp, refreshing summer ale with the sweet, fruity, floral flavors of delicious honeysuckle pays homage to those warm summer evenings when life was so simple.

Fishersville, Virginia

Barren Ridge Vineyards has been making award winning wines since 2007. A small, family-owned winery in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Previously cultivated as an apple orchard, the land features low nutrient, mostly limestone, soil. The low vigor and excellent drainage create excellent growing conditions for several vinifera varietals.

A refreshing wine with bright acidity and aromas of white flowers, grapefruit, and a crisp mineral finish. The grapes were pressed then racked after two days of cold settling. The fermentation took place at very low temperature, which slowed the fermentation and preserved many of the aromas from the grapes and produced an elegant and complex profile. Two barrels were separated from the lot and fermented in barrel, one in neutral barrel, one in new French barrel. This was blended into a portion of the wine kept for 7 months in tank for clarification.

This vintage of Petit Verdot has a more refined finish accompanied by a sweet and smokey tobacco aroma from the oak blends with the baked cherry pie from the fruit. Grapes were de-stemmed with minimal crushing of berries, then chilled for two days ‘cold soak’. The grapes were fermented in small lots with different yeast and oak treatments to maximize complexity. Each bin or tank was punched down twice daily and during the peak of fermentation. When fermentation was complete the free run was racked in barrels and the wine from the skins was gently pressed to barrels. Once the malolactic fermentation was completed, the wine was racked from lees and aged for 14 months in new and seasoned oak. We used 85% French oak and 15% American oak of medium toast levels and tight grain selection, which gave a more refined finish to the wines.

Castle Hill Cider blends time-honored traditions with modern techniques to bring you refreshing and award-winning Virginia cider. Their world-class cider makers use time-tested and cutting-edge practices, working to renovate an 80-year-old orchard while collaborating with growers of prime apple varieties.

Stellar fruit, floral and spice aromas overlay a foundation of supple tannins. Bright acidity leaves a clean refreshed palate. Bittersweet cider varieties such as Dabinett are blended with heirlooms (Albemarle Pippin, Winesap, and Grimes Golden). Pairs with Asian dishes, ripened cheese or other exotic fare.

Like a cold pool on a hot day, Terrestrial’s acidity gives this cider a crisp finish. Made with a blend of Winesap and Albemarle Pippin apples, this cider pairs nicely with oysters or aromatic dishes and makes a cleansing counterpoint to rich cheeses.

Serendipity is a bright, fresh, and fruit-forward cider made from Albemarle Pippin apples. Arrested fermentation preserves a bit of the apples’ natural sweetness. Silver Winner at Great Lakes Cider Competition and 2017 Governor’s Cup, Best Overall Cider 2016 Virginia State Fair.

Earthy, elegant and refined with layers of cassis, herbs and a hint of leather. Nice youthful tannic structure with a soft, silky, and lingering finish. Aged 9 months in French Oak.

2016 V2

78% Verdejo 22% Vidal Blanc

The wine has incredible acidity, with vibrant flavors of gooseberries, green apple, lime and grapefruit, which follows through onto the palate. The palate has a smooth texture and a bit of minerality. Not an overly complex wine, this is bright, vibrant.

100% Tourgia

The nose on the 2016 vintage is very fruit forward, which is unusual for this old world Portuguese grape. The aromas gravitate towards tart red fruits such as pomegranate, rhubarb and cherries. The palate is quite light as more of the acidity shows at its young age. Blending in the Cabernet Franc gives it a touch of green or herbal quality that brightens the wine. This vintage will keep changing over the next five years, possibly into something spicier.

Crozet, Virginia

King Family Vineyards is a family owned and operated winery located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet, Virginia just fifteen minutes from Charlottesville. The wine opens on the nose with zesty citrus, honeysuckle, and white peach notes. A rounded attack and smooth mouthfeel bring these notes to the palate. The finish is bright and fresh. Aged in a combination of stainless steel, neutral French oak, acacia, and concrete.

100% Merlot

Aged for 16 months in a combination of both neutral and new French oak barrels. Bright notes of cherry, strawberry and leather are intertwined with a soft aroma of wet iron.
